1. Introduction
Dr.Plants respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Dr.Plants mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
Dr.Plants is designed to work without requiring account creation. During onboarding, you may optionally provide your name and email address to receive updates about the app, helpful plant care tips, and product news. This information is entirely optional and you can skip this step.
Name and Email (Optional): If you choose to provide your name and email during onboarding, this information is stored securely in our database. We use it only to send you app updates, plant care tips, and occasional product news. You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us to request deletion of your information.
Plant Photos: When you use the app to identify or diagnose plants, you may upload photos. These photos are stored securely in our system (Supabase storage) but are not associated with your identity. Photos are used solely to provide the service and are not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the service.
Technical Information: We may collect technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and usage events. This information is anonymized and used to improve the app's performance and stability.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to help us operate and improve the application:
- AppsFlyer: Used for mobile attribution and marketing analytics. AppsFlyer helps us measure the performance of our advertising campaigns and understand how users discover the app. On iOS, AppsFlyer may access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you grant permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, AppsFlyer uses privacy-preserving methods that do not identify you personally.
- Mixpanel: Used for product analytics and user behavior tracking. All data is anonymized and helps us understand how the app is used to improve the user experience.
- Sentry: Monitors app performance and collects crash reports to help us identify and fix technical issues. No personal information is included in these reports.
- RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. We only have access to transaction data, not your payment information, which is handled by the app stores.
- Supabase: Provides database and backend services. We use Supabase to store plant photos, app data, and optionally your name and email if you choose to provide them during onboarding.
- OpenAI (GPT-4o): Used to generate plant care recommendations and diagnoses. We do not intentionally send personal data to OpenAI.
These services adhere to strict data protection standards and process data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
4. Permissions
The app may request the following permissions:
- Camera: To take photos of plants for identification and diagnosis
- Photo Library/Files: To access photos you've already taken
- Notifications: To send you reminders about plant care tasks (only if you choose to enable reminders)
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS): We ask for your permission to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. This data is used solely to measure advertising performance and improve the onboarding experience. You can decline with no impact on app functionality, and you can change this setting at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
